Job Overview – Pediatric Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our pediatric healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and families, as well as the clinical skills necessary to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced pediatric primary care environment. As an LPN in our office, you will play a key role in supporting the health and development of children from infancy through adolescence.

Responsibilities

  • Administer vaccines, medications, and treatments under physician orders and per VFC guidelines
  • Perform pediatric-focused assessments, including vital signs and growth parameters
  • Conduct vision, hearing, and developmental screenings
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during clinical procedures
  • Manage telephone triage, including returning patient calls, addressing clinical concerns, and escalating issues when needed
  • Call patients/families with lab and diagnostic results and provide appropriate education or instructions as directed by providers
  • Process prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and specialist services
  • Coordinate referrals and ensure follow-through with external providers or specialists
  • Handle prescription refills, ensuring accurate documentation and provider review
  • Provide clear education to families regarding pediatric conditions, medications, and preventive care
  • Accurately document all encounters and care provided in the EMR
  • Support specimen collection and point-of-care testing (strep, flu, urine, etc.)
  • Maintain vaccine inventory and ensure compliance with VFC program protocols
  • Collaborate with providers and the care team to support continuity of care
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and child-friendly clinical environment

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for candidates with experience or skills in the following areas:

  • Pediatric clinical experience in primary care, urgent care, or specialty setting
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Athenahealth, EPIC, or Cerner
  • Strong communication skills and comfort in providing telephone triage and lab follow-up
  • Familiarity with VFC vaccine management and pediatric immunization schedules
  • Experience processing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
  • Pediatric phlebotomy and specimen collection skills preferred
  • CPR/BLS certification (PALS preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care
  • Team-oriented with a positive and professional attitude

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a friendly and organized Front Desk Receptionist to join our dynamic pediatric office. As the first point of contact for our patients and their families, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service, managing appointments, and contributing to the overall positive experience at our practice. Fluency in Spanish is a plus, as we strive to enhance our ability to serve a diverse and multicultural community.

Responsibilities:

1. Patient Reception:

  • Greet and welcome patients and their families with a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Register new patients and update existing patient information accurately.

2. Appointment Scheduling:

  • Schedule and confirm appointments, coordinating with medical staff to ensure optimal scheduling efficiency.
  • Manage and organize the patient appointment calendar.

3. Communication:

  • Answer phone calls promptly and address inquiries or direct calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and staff in a clear and professional manner.
